Philharmonic Without Borders – Democratizing Music
A professional orchestra with a social mission and a regional focus.
The Santander Philharmonic Orchestra (OFS) is the Foundation’s professional artistic platform. It was created to highlight local talent, generate dignified cultural employment for professional musicians in the region, and connect symphonic music with the community through a vision of social transformation.
With the OFS, art moves beyond the traditional stage to meet people where they are in schools, community centers, parks, alternative venues, and public spaces where access to music has historically been limited.
Filarmónica sin Fronteras: The project
Philharmonic Without Borders: Democratizing Music is an initiative designed to bring symphonic music to historically excluded communities across Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area.
Over a three-year period (2025–2027), the OFS will present 120 concerts organized into 30 cycles, which will include:
• Three free concerts per cycle in unconventional venues (schools, neighborhoods, community institutions).
• One gala concert per cycle, with tickets available for purchase.
In addition, the project includes:
• Hiring local musicians and technical staff to strengthen the orchestra.
• Acquiring instruments and amplification equipment to ensure technical quality and long-term sustainability.
• Implementing a communication and civic engagement strategy to promote visibility, participation, and a shared sense of belonging.
This project represents a firm commitment to cultural decentralization, democratizing access to music, and strengthening Santander’s artistic ecosystem.
